As I close my eyes and recall, it seems like yesterday when parents of Cambridge International School were invited to showcase their stalls at the much-awaited event, “The Cambridge Oscars” awarding students for their talent and achievements in February 2016.
The excitement was irresistible along with mixed feelings of fear and anxiety. Unstoppable questions started pouring in like the chocolate fondue from a fountain. Cooking for more than 100 people! I haven’t done this before. Could it be possible? Will the food taste good? Will I be able to sell? The chaotic mind was finally put to rest by my sister who agreed to collaborate with me for this ecstatic experience.
We decided to call our stall ‘Passion for Food’. Red as our theme colour and ‘Snack Basket’ with handmade Arabic fatayer, chocolate, vanilla cupcakes with frosting, sprinkles and sausage rolls; they were the highlights of our menu!
Now, back to the same question. Were we able to sell them? Well, the answer is thee most predictable one: Yes!!! We did it! It was relished by most of them. Cupcakes were sold out and lovely comments from the clients tickled our cheek muscles for that big broad smile. A sense of accomplishment and the fact that every action and success starts with a beautiful thought that motivates you to nurture and fulfil your passion/dream.
Three years down the line, I see myself as a successful food blogger with an undying passion for food having studied at a culinary school, launching Munch Mondays and on a journey of positivity longing to achieve desired aspirations! My awesome life, here I come!
